We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer to join our engineering team in Winona, Minnesota. This is an onsite position for someone who enjoys taking a design from concept through production and working closely with engineering, manufacturing, sales, purchasing, and planning teams.

The ideal candidate has strong 3D CAD and 2D drafting experience, a solid understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing processes, and the ability to turn project requirements into accurate, manufacturable designs.
 

What You'll Do:

As a Mechanical Designer, you will create mechanical designs, technical drawings, and digital models while supporting products throughout the design and manufacturing lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with engineering and sales teams to understand project requirements, specifications, and design objectives.
• Create detailed 3D models and 2D production drawings for mechanical components, assemblies, and systems.
• Use Autodesk Inventor or comparable CAD software to develop accurate and manufacturable mechanical designs.
• Apply mechanical engineering principles and manufacturing considerations throughout the design process.
• Create and maintain drawings, specifications, bills of materials, design changes, and other technical documentation.
• Ensure drawings and design documentation meet applicable company, industry, quality, and compliance standards.
• Work closely with manufacturing, purchasing, planning, sales, and engineering throughout product development and production.
• Provide technical support to engineering and operations teams.
• Partner directly with manufacturing teams to identify and resolve design, component, and assembly issues.
• Investigate and resolve bill of material (BOM) errors, deviation requests, and production-related design issues.
• Support pilot and pre-production runs associated with product or process changes.
• Conduct design reviews to verify specifications, functionality, quality, and manufacturability.
• Partner with quality teams to identify and resolve issues involving design integrity.
• Communicate mechanical designs, technical concepts, and proposed changes effectively across departments.
• Manage and prioritize multiple design projects while meeting deadlines and budget requirements.
• Help keep manufacturing lines running by responding to part, assembly, documentation, and design-related issues as they arise.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Approximately 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Designer or in a comparable mechanical design position.
• Strong experience with 3D CAD modeling and 2D mechanical drawings.
• Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor or comparable CAD software.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
• Experience creating and maintaining detailed technical and design documentation.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate successfully with engineering, manufacturing, sales, purchasing, planning, and quality teams.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
