POSITION SUMMARY

The Design Coordinator plays a critical role in transforming a homeowner’s vision into a fully realized, buildable basement remodeling project. This position blends interior design, residential remodeling, CAD drafting, and project coordination.
Acting as the bridge between Sales, homeowners, and Production, the Design Coordinator ensures every project is:

• Fully developed
• Technically sound
• Aesthetically cohesive
• Ready for construction

This role develops detailed CAD drawings, construction documentation, and material selections while coordinating with homeowners, subcontractors, and the internal production team to ensure projects move smoothly from design to build.
Success in this role requires strong design knowledge, communication skills, organization, and attention to detail in a fast-paced residential remodeling environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Design & Project Development

• Translate signed contracts and preliminary sales plans into buildable basement remodeling designs
• Create and maintain floor plans, elevations, and 3D renderings using Chief Architect, 20/20 Design (Design Flex), or similar CAD software
• Integrate mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and framing considerations into designs
• Develop full construction documentation packages including drawings, scope of work, and selection sheets

Material Coordination & Job Preparation

• Obtain vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure alignment with project budgets
• Prepare and process change orders while maintaining clear communication with homeowners
• Confirm materials, measurements, and selections before production handoff

Customer Experience & Communication

• Guide homeowners through the design and product selections process
• Maintain proactive communication with homeowners, project managers, and trade partners
• Manage design revisions and project adjustments professionally and efficiently

REQUIREMENTS

• Experience with Chief Architect, 20/20 Design (Design Flex), or similar CAD / interior design software
• 2–5 years of experience in residential remodeling, interior design, construction, or design-build environments
• Strong knowledge of space planning, cabinetry, and residential interior layouts
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and BuilderTrend or similar project management software
• Ability to collaborate with homeowners, subcontractors, and production teams
• Availability for occasional evening or weekend design meetings
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
