Compensation: $50,000 plus bonus eligible with full benefits

Job Location:  Austin, TX. Hybrid in-office 3 days / remote 2 days. The training period will be fully in the office.

Compliance Coordinator​ Role:

The Compliance Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and improving upon corporate compliance practices to ensure that the company’s products and services meet all Federal and State compliance and data security requirements. This position coordinates with insurance carriers regarding state mandates and regulations and identifies any needed change to business policies and procedures. Additional tasks may include the completion of Medicare Secondary Payer responses, handle subrogation matters and respond to Department of Insurance, Attorney and Better Business Bureau complaints.  An individual in this position must have excellent oral and written communication skills, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to meet deadlines are also crucial to this position. 

 

Compliance Coordinator​ Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Support the Chief Privacy and Security Officer in continued company-wide HIPAA security and privacy compliance (including keeping the policies and procedures up to date) and coordinates any investigation and response to security incidents, as needed
  • Research State policy mandates and Federal regulations including the Affordable Care Act (ACA), HIPAA, and ERISA, 
  • Correspond with insurance carriers regarding state mandates and regulations to determine applicability and potential impact to the business and corresponding policies and procedures. 
  • Receive, research, and respond to Department of Insurance and Attorney complaints, record requests, subpoenas, and other correspondence.
  • Interfaces with insurance carriers and clients regarding compliance matters
  • Coordinates with the insurance carriers and third-party auditors for security audits, including SOC1 and SOC2.
  • Responds to security questionnaires and assessments from clients and prospective clients
  • Interacts with Information Technology and Security services vendor, including the audits and testing necessary to ensure compliance in the day-to-day operations of the organization
  • Manage the annual HIPAA training required for all company employees and maintain the certificates of completion.
  • Follow the company policies and procedures required to comply with applicable data privacy and confidentiality requirements, including but not limited to SOC controls, and HIPAA Privacy and Security regulations.
  • Research and respond to Medicare Secondary Payer claim disputes.
  • Provide administrative support to the General Counsel.
  • Perform other duties as needed to help the department.


Compliance Coordinator​ Requirements:

  • College degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience
  • Previous medical insurance or employee benefits experience 
  • Knowledge of HIPAA security and privacy laws
  • Knowledge of State insurance laws and Department of Insurance regulations.  
  • Knowledge of health insurance administration, employee benefit plans, health and welfare terminology and concepts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of employees
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, and familiarity with database usage.
  • Health claims processing experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to think and work independently.
  • Ability to multi-task.
