Director of Operations (Head of Delivery)

 

The Director of Operations (Head of Delivery) is responsible for the delivery of IKE's operating capabilities, exceeding customers’ expectations, building a cohesive and effective team.

 

Location: The ideal candidate is local to our U.S. Headquarters in Broomfield, Colorado. However, at this time we are flexible to hire remote talent that meets our criteria.

 

Director of Operations Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of IKE's CX process to lead 3 of the IKE Delivery Operations Core Teams:
    • (1) IKE Analyze function (production team) – responsible for producing IKE generated transactions to customer project requirements, targeting DIFOTIS. IKE Analyze delivery is the key revenue driver for the IKE business.
    • (2) Field data consulting team overseeing -
      • Field data collection capability, through 3rd party arrangements
      • Field data training, virtual and on-site with the customer
      • Field management consulting services, end to end management of projects
    • (3) IKE post-sale support services team - providing technical support for IKE's customers (IKE field devices and IKE Office), managing IKE’s pool of devices 
  •  Overseeing Team Performance:
    • Balances team and individual responsibilities; exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views; gives and welcomes feedback; able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives.
    • Formulation of objectives and standards of performance
    • Hire and direct managers & staff, acquiring the necessary resources to meet scheduled commitments
    • Ensure implementation and refinement of formal processes to support delivery to customers
    • Implement operational best practices
  • Project Management - develop project & delivery plans; coordinate these projects and deliveries; communicate changes and progress; complete projects & delivery on time and budget, lead a ‘quality first time’ focus; manage associated team activities.
  • IKEs Lean Leader – leading IKEs focus on continuous improvement, adopting productivity tools & processes that allow IKE to work in a more efficient and effective manner, including Lean initiatives, PDCA, Theory of Constraints, DIFOTIS.
  • Proactively works with IKE’s development team as an ‘internal customer’ to specific commercially focused functionality to IKE’s internal team. Act as a customer advocate, passing on feedback or enhancement requests.
  • Sales Support - Work with the sales group, including account management, to gain a strong understanding of the broader Utilities and Communications market, identifying project opportunities that aligned to IKE’s core capabilities. Support sales maturing these opportunities into qualified leads.
  • Strategic Thinking and Risk Management - Develop strategies to achieve organizational goals; understand organizational strengths & weaknesses; analyze market and competition; identify external threats and opportunities; adapt strategy to changing conditions.
  • Budgets and Cost Control - Ensure the budget for the Delivery function is well managed to generate “value for money”. This includes headcount, consulting spend, prototyping costs, equipment cost, travel and entertainment, professional development and so on.
  • Monitoring & Reporting – Set in place a regular cadence of operational KPI reporting; establish and execute corrective action plan where appropriate. Report on Delivery strategies & results to leadership.
  • Partner Internally: Able to work cross-functionally with other IKE business units, most notably the IKE core development team, Sales and Finance

 

Director of Operations Requirements and Competencies:

  • Industry Experience - 10+ years track record of leading, managing, and building similar operations and delivery teams in a utility, telecommunications, or similar technology company.
  • Pole Expertise –  Has a deep understanding of power poles, line design, and the delivery of projects directly relevant to IKE Analyze and our customers completing structural analysis, joint use, and related programs in the electric utility and communications market across North America.
  • Business Acumen - Understands business implications of decisions; Displays orientation to profitability; Demonstrates knowledge of market and competition; Aligns work with strategic goals.
  • Judgement - Exhibits sound and accurate judgment; Supports and explains reasoning for decisions; Includes appropriate people in decision-making process; Makes timely decisions.
