Retirement Plans Sales Manager
The Big Picture:
The retirement sales manager is responsible for sales in a specific geographic region. The department provides full service consulting to corporations regarding all aspects of the retirement programs.The proper candidate must have a strong background with ERISA specific plan design and non-descrimination coverage as well as have an understanding of controlled groups. The Sales Manager will be expected to develop referral sources, sell direct and provide a degree of post sale service.
The Day-to-Day: Provides oversight of the Retirement Services Account
- Develops, or assists in the development of the Strategic Sales Plan and sales strategy for the market that ensures attainment of company sales goals and profitability
- Provide full service consulting to coporotations regarding all aspects of the retirement programs including ERISA specififc plan design, non-descrimination coverage, investment, and employee engagement.
- Reviews action plans and establishes performances goals for sales territory
- Conducts in person sales presentations as needed
- Partners with the Account Management team and other internal departments to provide consistent marketing and customer service to existing clients in their territory
- Creates and builds strategic partnerships with benefits carriers, brokers and consultants through consistent contact, professional meetings to groups, responsive communication, problem resolution and meeting customer expectations
- May represent Company at trade associations, conferences and tradeshows to network and promote products
The Right Person for the job has:
- In depth knowledge of ERISA plan design, retirement products and investment analysis
- Proven success selling retirement plans
- Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting and selling products or services
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to drive retirement teams
- Knowledge and a thorough understanding of competitive markets
- Skill in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) and the Internet
- Excellent negotiation and presentation skills and the ability to close a sale
- Ability to develop, present and execute strategic product marking plans
- Superior communication skills – both verbal and written
- Strong interpersonal, partnership and collaboration skills
- Ability to supervise, mentor, and train sales personnel
- Ability to travel frequently
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering or equivalent education and experience
- 2-5 years proven success in exceeding new business sales
- Expert computer skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) and the Internet
- Experience using CRM software preferred, salesforce
- ERISA knowledge and expertise
- Prior TPA knowledge preferred
- Ability to travel frequently required

- Member of ASPPA a plus
