What You’ll Do

  • Plan and deliver engaging instruction using effective, research-based teaching strategies
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs
  • Serve as a case manager for assigned students
  • Prepare goals and objectives and participate in ARD meetings
  • Monitor student progress through ongoing assessments and required reporting
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure instructional alignment and appropriate accommodations
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding academic and behavioral progress
  • Maintain accurate student records while ensuring confidentiality
  • Create a structured, supportive classroom environment that promotes motivation and positive behavior
  • Use a variety of instructional techniques, technology, and adaptive equipment
  • Support students with physical needs when required
  • Supervise teacher aides and volunteers
  • Participate in professional learning and staff meetings
  • Comply with all district, state, and federal policies and standards

 

What You Bring

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
  • Special Education endorsement/certification

Skills & Strengths

  • 1+ years of classroom teaching experience
  • Strong instructional planning and classroom management skills
  • Knowledge of IEP development and ARD processes
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong communication skills with students, families, and staff
  • Commitment to ethical and professional standards

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work occurs in classroom and school settings
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting
  • Regular moderate lifting (up to 44 lbs); occasional heavier lifting
  • May support students with mobility and medical needs
  • District-wide travel may be required
  • Occasional evening/weekend school events
