Summary of Heavy Equipment Operator at Layton Services:

Accountable for operating various types of heavy machinery to perform earthmoving, grading, trenching, and construction site preparation tasks. You'll work closely with site supervisors and working crew members to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications. This role requires strong attention to detail and a proficient understanding of job site safety practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Types of Equipment: Excavators, Bulldozers, Loaders, Skid-steers, Rollers, Off-Road Trucks.
• Performing: Trenching, Grading, Land Clearing, Mass Excavation, and Compaction.
• Ability to operate one or multiple types of heavy machinery used in site work operations proficiently.
• Excavate with precision around existing utilities, survey stakes, and other vital obstacles.
• Operate in a manner to follow project specifications and supervisor instructions to complete tasks efficiently and accurately.
• Exhibit a responsible, safety-first attitude at all times.
• Dig safely within trench boxes, including double-stacked configurations.
• Follow all OSHA and company safety regulations.
• Ability to use GPS tools is a plus, but not a requirement.
• All additional responsibilities as required by the role.

Qualifications and Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
• Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment.
• Strong knowledge of excavation, grading, trenching, and material handling techniques.
• Ability to read and follow project plans, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn and grow.
• Trenching and Excavating Certificate Required (can be obtained upon hire, provided by Layton Services).
• OSHA 10-Hour Certification Required (can be obtained upon hire, provided by Layton Services).
