Position Summary: The Environmental Sonic Driller is responsible for executing sonic drilling operations in accordance with the drilling plan, from implementation to completion and abandonment of drill sites. This role involves preparing equipment and sites for drilling operations, ensuring safety, and maintaining equipment.

 

Environmental Sonic Driller Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate sonic drill rigs and other drilling equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain daily drilling field reports.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks and document them.
  • Train and mentor drilling crew members.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed and report any safety issues.
  • Complete well logs, logbooks, repair orders, and inspection sheets.
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients and manage work site activities.
  • Conduct pre-shift inspections and weekly safety meetings.
  • Perform and document maintenance and repairs on equipment and vehicles.

 

Environmental Sonic Driller Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience operating sonic drill rigs.
  • Mechanical knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and repair issues related to diesel engines and hydraulic power systems.
  • Familiarity with Hazardous Waste Operations (HAZWOPER) preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Willingness to travel and work in remote locations.

 

Environmental Sonic Driller Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and learn new skills.
  • Knowledge of sonic drilling technology and methods.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to maintain positive client relationships.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods and maneuver in small areas.
  • Repetitive bending, lifting, and climbing.
