Location: Consistent work in Newark, Ohio

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7 AM to 5/6 PM. Overtime available. Some Saturdays may be required. Travel is dependent on the specific contracted job.

Work conditions: This position is mostly outside, doing strenuous work in the elements.

Compensation: Starting at $18-21/hr based on experience. Overtime/OT pay is expected as needed. Bonus opportunities based on annual company-wide performance.

Field Laborer (Gas) Job Summary:

A Field Laborer’s main responsibility is to assist the team in the installation and repair of underground utility  infrastructure. They will perform a wide range of physical labor tasks to support their team’s safety and goals on the construction site. 

Field Laborer (Gas)  Role Responsibilities:

  • Observe operators from excavation to assist them in safely digging around existing utilities • Use hand tools to dig around existing utilities to prevent damage 
  • Set up work zones for crews to complete tasks and enhance safety measures 
  • Maintain a clean, organized job site free from unnecessary hazards  
  • Unload and inventory materials 
  • Perform Driver’s Vehicle Inspections and cleaning on vehicles and equipment 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

Field Laborer (Gas)  Requirements:

  • Withstand any outdoor climate year-round
  • Insurable Driver’s License
  • Pass DOT drug-testing & DOT physical
  • Pass criminal background check
  • Be physically active for long periods of time
  • Bend, stretch, twist, or reach out
  • Able to continuously lift and carrying objects 40+ pounds
  • Ability to be a team player with a can-do attitude
  • Ability to adhere to safety expectations set by OSHA and client/company standard
  • Willingness to travel out of town if necessary
  • Ability to use personal vehicles for commuting to job sites as required.
  • Complete development and training as required.
  • Physical capability to handle tasks.

Field Laborer (Gas) Preferred Requirements:

  • 1 year of manual labor experience, preferably outside in the elements 
  • 1 year of underground utility experience, preferably natural gas, water, sewer, telecommunications, or  electric 
  • Previously held Operator Qualifications trainings
  • OSHA 10 certification is a plus.
  • CDL Class A is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
