Demolition & Excavation Operator Role Summary:

SC Services is seeking a Demolition & Excavation Operator to join our demolition team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy machinery and equipment for residential demolition and excavation projects. This role involves removing residential structures, clearing land, and preparing sites for new home construction or renovation. Key responsibilities include operating excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, and other heavy equipment; ensuring compliance with residential safety regulations; conducting routine maintenance checks on equipment; and working closely with project managers and contractors to complete tasks on time. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of residential demolition and excavation techniques, excellent equipment operation skills, and a strong commitment to maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

 

Demolition & Excavation Operator Role Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, and backhoes, safely and efficiently according to company policies and procedures.
  • Perform pre-operation checks and routine maintenance on machinery to ensure proper functioning and safety.
  • Follow project plans, blueprints, and instructions to accurately complete demolition and excavation tasks.
  • Safely and efficiently operate heavy machinery to demolish residential homes and small buildings, adhering to all safety protocols and project specifications.
  • Excavate and grade land surfaces to prepare residential sites for new construction, landscaping, or other development projects.
  • Load and unload materials such as dirt, gravel, debris, and demolition remnants using equipment attachments or by hand as needed.
  • Maneuver equipment in tight residential spaces and around obstacles while maintaining safety and precision.
  • Collaborate with ground crew and other team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely project completion.
  • Adhere to all residential safety regulations and protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and practicing safe work habits.
  • Report any damaged or faulty equipment to management promptly for repair or replacement.


 

Demolition & Excavation Operator Role Requirements:

  • 1-3+ years of experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and graders.
  • Proven experience in demolition work, including, but not limited to, taking down residential structures.
  • Relevant certifications such as Heavy Equipment Operator, Demolition Contractor License, OSHA Safety Certification, Confined Space Entry Certification (highly preferred).
  • CDL (Commercial Driver's License) is highly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures. 
  • Ability to lift and maneuver heavy machinery safely.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work well within a team.  
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Willingness to work after-hours when required.
