Support Engineer - Remote - Night Shift

 

Compensation: Estimated $70,000 to $85,000 annual salary based on experience.

Location: Remote for candidates who reside in the following states: Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Texas, Wisconsin, with occasional (less than 10%) travel. The vast majority of this position would be remote troubleshooting, from home. Very small/rare need for travel but should be willing and able for at least one training/team building trip and one customer trip per year.

Hours: Night shift rotations are scheduled between the hours of 7pm – 7am Central time, 8 hour shifts on weekdays, 12 hour shifts on weekends. Weekend shifts are rotating, every 3rd weekend with 2 days off before and 3 days off after the weekend shift.

Support Engineer Job Summary:

Our team of Support Engineers is responsible for remotely troubleshooting a variety of automation technologies and platforms deployed for the control of automated manufacturing processes. Engineers frequently engage directly with customers across North America to troubleshoot issues, provide technical support for customer production, cleaning, data collection, and reporting for control systems.

 

Support Engineer Responsibilities:

• Provide client-facing support, communicating with customers via email, chat, phone, or video as needed.
• Program, configure, test, and implement PLC and HMI-based solutions to address customer-reported issues.
• Troubleshoot issues of varying complexity, ranging from limited to moderate scope.
• Exercise independent judgment to determine the best solutions for client needs.
• Develop professional expertise by applying company policies and procedures.
• Ensure safety, conduct, and compliance with company and client policies.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed to support clients and the team.

 

Support Engineer Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Mechanical, Computer Science, Software, or a related field.
• 1-5 years of experience related to customer automation solutions, including PLC ladder logic programming, HMI programming, computer programming, and electrical design.
• Experience in PLC ladder logic programming for control systems.
• Experience in HMI programming for automation controls (light exposure is okay).
• Ability to provide computer programming support, including diagnosis and repair of control equipment.
• Ability to understand electrical design for control systems, including components with electrical and mechanical integration.
• Proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

Support Engineer Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in automation machinery manufacturing for the food and beverage industry is a plus.
• Previous experience in the general beverage, dairy, soft drink, and food manufacturing process industries is a plus.
• Knowledge and application of complex electrical principles and advanced electrical troubleshooting skills are a plus.
• Experience with Rockwell Automation is a plus.
• Additional coding experience, including VBA and other scripting languages (e.g., SQL databases), is a plus.
